It's a blessing because you can stand through the wind, rain, storm, hell. It's a curse because you're expected to come out smiling.

Strong is a word that my parents have always used to describe me, it’s a characteristic that has come to define who I am. Here’s a list of five things strong people want you to know.

1. Being strong sets you apart from others.

It means you can go through the highs and lows in life and always come out smiling. I am proud of all the storms I have withstood, I am proud of the good days I laugh and remain happy, but I am tired. I am tired of always being the strong girl.

2. Strong people are the ones who are attacked even more because people do not notice that it truly affects you.

It’s not ok to attack strong people just because you can. A strong person can only stand tall through so much. It’s exhausting to always pretend like everything everyone does and says to me is ok, just because I’m “a strong girl.”

3. When you are labeled or known as the “strong person,” you feel like you have to be strong for those who cannot be.

You feel this constant need to be there for the ones who can’t be there for themselves. The strong people feel the need to hold other’s up, all while trying to hold themselves up. I love that I am strong enough to love people this much, it’s just exhausting how strong I am expected to be.

4. I need reassurance as much as you do.

People tend to think just because I am strong, I don’t need to be reminded that people are there, or that I am appreciated, or that they love me. Just because I am strong and waltz through life everyday with my head up, doesn't mean that I do not need reassurance. I need a reminder that there are people there who would be there when I don’t feel like being the strong person. It's exhausting to always feel alone.

5. Strong people can’t feel sorry for themselves.

I don’t like when people feel sorry for themselves. Let’s admit it - sometimes we all need to feel sorry for ourselves. Strong people don’t get to do that - ever. Strong people are expected to take the loss and move on, not thinking about it again. It's exhausting to feel like you have to be so strong all of the time.

Being strong is both a blessing and a curse. it's a blessing because you can stand through the wind, rain, storm, hell. It's a curse because you're expected to come out smiling.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

CSU

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
