To my repair man of all things broken, my personal exterminator, and my superhero.
Dear Daddy,
You are one of a kind and I am beyond blessed to be able to call you my dad. You deserve unlimited thank you’s, but here are a few for now!
Thank you for helping me in my most panicked moments and fixing what is broken, whether that is a school project or myself.
In school, I put a lot of stress on myself, and this means stress for you too. I ask you for help, then get angry that you’re not doing it the way my teacher taught me, but you were just trying to help me. I cannot even begin to count the number of projects you helped me with. I am good with iMovie now, but that is only because I watched you make so many movies for me in school. Then there were those times you had to come downstairs at 1 in the morning to tell me to stop stressing over a project and just go get sleep.
Let’s not forget about the countless times I got locked in my room. . . you fix a lot dad. My broken locks, my broken furniture, my boo-boos when I was younger, and as I get older, my broken hearts. You know just how to distract me, and you know when I need tough love. After you fix my bedroom lock, we would go get ice cream. After I fell off my bike and scraped my knee you had me get right back on (after the Barbie Band-Aid of course) even when I was too scared to try. You remind me how special I am and build my spirits up when the world gets me down. While I may have never showed it, I always noticed the small things you did for me. So thank you; thanks for putting up with my stress, my broken doors, and my broken self.
Thanks for pushing me to always be my best, and for being there for me every step of the way; with all my activities. You gave me private practices for dive team and you gave me tips for gymnastics and soccer. Most importantly (to me at least) you gave me full support throughout dance. You helped with my hair and stood by my side during tryouts for anything dance related. You were the perfect dance dad. Even with all my activities you always came to my events; you will never know how much that means to me.
Fixing my projects, killing non welcomed bugs, and being there for me when I need you most are all different roles you fulfil as a dad. However, no matter the role or situation, you achieve the same outcome every time. You teach me how it is a man should treat their family, their loved ones, and what a father’s love should look like. I know at the end of the day you still love me, no matter how annoying I get, and I know I can always count on you to be by my side when I need you the most.
Dad, thank you for the sacrifices you make. I know there were times when you really did want that last piece of pizza, and there were times you probably didn’t want to go to another gymnastics meet to see me do the same routines, but you gave up what you wanted to make me happy. I know now that someone is only crazy enough to do these things when they truly love someone. There will never be enough thank you’s in the world to repay you for that.
Finally, dad, thanks for just being you. You always have a joke to tell and I love that about you. You are always so chill and willing to go with the flow. You have such a kind heart and are willing to help anyone at any moment. There are not enough thank you’s and I love you’s in the world to repay you, but that’s not why a superhero does what they do, right? You have come to my rescue many a time; you truly are my superhero and I love you!
Love,
Your little girl
