Have you ever lost an Instagram photo moments before posting it, after meticulously editing it for longer than you’d care to admit? Or have you ever just wished that you could save a picture that you want to post in the future? Well, thanks to the newest update, now you can!
A few weeks ago, Instagram tested a feature that would allow users to save their drafts. After many updates that have been more annoying than helpful, this feature promised to be a refreshing change! However, it wasn’t meant to be just yet. Various Instagram users reported that they were able to see this feature as an option, but that their drafts did not actually save; it was just a test run.
However, the option is now really available, and it is EVERYTHING. To use the feature, just choose your photo, apply all your edits, set your caption, and then hit the back arrow in the upper left corner. This will take you to a screen that will allow you to save your drafts!
Now you can edit your photos and set your caption all in advance. Even better, you can go back and make changes to your saved edits! Gone are the days of accidentally closing Instagram while writing your caption and losing all of your painstaking work. Gone are the days of thinking of the perfect caption in the moment, only to have it totally evade you when you finally post the picture.
So what’s next for Instagram? First updates took it the way of Facebook, changing the order in which photos appear in your newsfeed. Then they went the way of Snapchat, almost blatantly copying the Snapchat Stories feature. Are they going to restrict captions to 140 characters, add a filter feature to Stories, or allow you to repost someone’s photo to your own page without using an outside app?
Whatever the case, I think we can all agree that this new feature has each and every one of us feeling #blessed.
