C'mon give them a chance!

This is Why Monday's are the Best

You probably think I'm crazy, but Monday's are the best!

So, really there is one main reason as to why this is the best day of the week. It's simply because it's a fresh start!

First off, it's all about your attitude. Many people have this preconceived idea that Monday's are awful. If you fit into this group, then you are simply making it a bad day before it even begins.

Monday's are the beginning. Do you want to start a new project? Do you want to start a diet? Do you want to make plans for later in the week? You simply have the chance to make a difference, and Monday is only the start. And even if you don't want to start something new, maybe you didn't finish something from the prior week. Monday is a great day to keep working on the project with a new found energy.

Now, I know this is going to sound completely nerdy, but I'm going to hop on my soap box anyways. When I think of Monday's, I think about how I spent the weekend away from my coworkers. So, maybe I bought a new shirt that I want to show off or maybe I have a great story to share from the weekend. I don't know how to describe it other than I feel fresh. I'm the person who, by Monday, I have all my dishes clean, my laundry is done, and my house is clean. I do this, so on Monday, I feel that much better.

Because of this burst of energy I get on Monday, I am the most productive compared to the other days of the week. Being the organized person I am, I love to plan out my week and figure out how far I can get in my work and plan something fun for the next weekend. It's like I push through Monday to get to the next weekend. And if you don't finish what you need to on Monday, you have the rest of the week to complete it.

I get for some people it's hard to wake up on Monday after you had two days of bliss. Maybe you're a little tired, because you had that much fun during the weekend. This is just an excuse to drink a little extra coffee on Monday morning.

The best advice I can give, is to be positive. Instead of focusing on how miserable you might think Monday's are, look at it from a different perspective. Think about all of the things to look forward to. Be grateful and be happy!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
