I, along with the rest of the nation, have recently become obsessed with NBC's new show, This Is Us. Every now and then, a show will come along that explains family, friends, love and loss, and everything in between in the most real, but most renowned light.

This series tugs at your heartstrings, and you see yourself in the characters that you get to know on the screen.

Not only is the acting great, but so is the dialogue. Here are some of the best quotes from This Is Us, showing how accurately it portrays life's trials and triumphs:

1. "I am thankful for my family. I'm thankful that we're all safe and there's no one in the world that I'd rather be too hot or too cold with."

-Jack, Season 1, Episode 8

2. "You're adopted, and we don't talk about that enough. Because to me, you are every part my son. And maybe I don't want you to feel like you stand out. But I need you to know something. I want you to stand out. I want all of you to be as different as you can possibly be, in all the best ways. I love you as much as a human heart can, kiddo. You are an exceptional young man. So don't let your old man's poor choices make you feel afraid to be different. Ok? Ok."

-Jack, Season 1, Episode 6

3."What happened is my dad died. That's what. And I hated him for it. And I couldn't eat for a month. I used to wake myself up crying, so I could cry myself back to sleep at night. That's what happened."

-Kevin, Season 1, Episode 6

4. "So, you told the kids that he's grandpa, right, but not that he's sick. That's ballsy."

-Kevin, Season 1, Episode 5

5. "This is the scariest part. Some people think the scariest part is coming to the hospital to have a baby. The scariest part is leaving the hospital with the baby."

-Doctor K., Season 1, Episode 1

6. "It's always going to be about the weight for me, Toby. It's been my story ever since I was a little girl. And every moment that I'm not thinking about it, I'm thinking about it. Like will this chair hold me, will this dress fit me. And if I ever get pregnant, will anyone ever notice? It's just at the core of who I am, it's just deep inside, and eight tequila shots can only mask that for a couple hours."

-Kate, Season 1, Episode 2

7. "So I'm gonna need everyone in this room to believe that only good things are going to happen today. Actually, I need you to know it. Do you know it baby?"

-Jack, Season 1, Episode 1

8. "I like to think that one day you'll be an old man like me talkin' a young man's ear off explainin' to him how you took the sourest lemon that life has to offer and turned it into something resembling lemonade. If you can do that, then maybe you will still be taking three babies home from this hospital, just maybe not the way you planned."

-Dr. K, Season 1, Episode 1

College is a crazy, beautiful, amazing whirlwind. It is highly popularized in television and movies, but not necessarily in the most accurate way. Yes, there's frats, dingy dorms, raging house parties—but there's also a lot that people fail to mention.

1. If you thought that you knew how to study, you're wrong.

All of your classes aren't taught every day, so professors aren't on your case constantly about reading and memorizing material. Once you get back that "questionable" first exam grade, you'll kick it into high gear and figure out what works for you

Girl With Bleached Hair
Tumblr

I've been a bleach blonde for over a year now, and let me tell you, it is a lifestyle. More hair appointments, longer showers, and special shampoo. But it is totally worth it!

1. Mentally preparing yourself to convince your hair dresser that white is the way to go.

2. Or the anxiety of what could go wrong by bleaching your hair at home.

3. You could either become a ginger

4. Or a pixie

5. The face you make in the mirror when you take off your towel to unveil the perfect white strands.

6. Taking a million selfies the day you bleached it, because you know your roots will be back in literally 2 days.

7. Having to get bangs or a big chop because your hair is so damaged.

8. Having orange highlights in between touch-ups.

9. Going out for a drink afterwards to debut your updated look.

Despite the struggles, you love your platinum blonde hair! You make sure Instagram knows it, too. You don't need a filter, because the color is flawless by itself!

I've been at this college thing for almost three and a half years, and while I thought that high school was truly the lowest point of my existence, I'm beginning to realize that it was a walk in the park. Like, I miss the days when the biggest white lie I told my parents was my made up excuse about being late for fourth period. These days, the white lies are a tad more complex, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, I've definitely told a few of these.
