This Is Truly The Holiday Of Hope And Faith
By Christopher Bartlett
Among all the times of the year for holidays this is the time of year that calls for Faith and Hope the most. Whether you are Christian or Jewish or Wiccan for the examples I know of. For Christians, we celebrate the leap of faith and hope so many took in and to be at the birthing of Jesus Christ. For the Jewish people, they celebrate the festival of lights about how they kept the lights on during a time they were under siege. Apologies for not knowing better of the story this year. As Wiccans celebrate the birth of the God of Light and the lengthening of the days from that point on.
That is just scratching the surface of it though. There is also the fact that in World War 1 both sides of the war stopped all fighting for one day and came together to celebrate Christmas during the war. That all across the world even as we feel joy and faith in our celebrations with our families, there are people all over the world who are in hospital bed or fighting wars they did not ask to be fighting feeling the faith and hope of the season.
All through the world you find people finding hope and faith beyond what they normally would have. As well as people showing their best sides and going above and beyond their normal caring and giving selves because of the season. The season brings out the overall best in humanity even as there are some grinches and scrooges. There is an inexplicable force during this season that touches us all and brings out the best in the majority of us.
Though it baffles even my knowledge of human nature there is some unseen force that affects us all at this time of the year to be better than before and to give as best we can. Even as some of us battle illness and lose as well as other negative aspects of life during this season we find it in our hearts to try to see the best in humanity even when it might not be easy to in some years.
For at least two weeks of the year we try to set aside grudges and grievances to let as much joy and hope be felt across the world as the new year comes to the world. To try to invite in a good and prosperous year for all. Where we learn, and grow in wisdom as we pursue our dreams and needs.
To those that have to work on Christmas in emergency services and hospitals I thank you for your service. For those stuck in stores I apologize that your bosses put profit over you being home with your families on this day. For all the soldiers, everywhere I thank you for serving and defending our country and I pray that soon the world will be at peace and you won’t have to fight your fellow human beings anymore. For those stuck in hospitals or just not feeling well I pray for a speedy recovery. To those that have lost someone around Christmas I am right there with you in that pain still and I pray for your pain to be eased. To those that don’t know me I say Happy Holidays out of respect since I don’t know what you celebrate and to those that know me well I say Merry Christmas.
Now if you will pardon me I have a delivery to make or I am afraid some people’s Christmas might be a little sadder than usual. *Climbs into what looks like a sleigh*. Now on Dasher, on Dancer, on Comet, on Vixen, on Cupid, on Donner, away we mustn’t be late. *Vanishes into the night sky*.
