I'm Just Passing Through

Life on Earth is only temporary.

Shootings, terrorists attacks, racial division and all the other terrible events are what you see every time you turn on the TV or just when you open your Facebook. Every time I open my Facebook, or turn on the TV, and see a news story of something else bad happening, my heart breaks. My heart breaks for people I don't know, people I've never met, people that have lost their friends, family and loved ones, and for innocent people that never expected their life to end so early. Not only does my heart break for them, but my heart breaks for humans as whole, and that these bad things are happening.

Even though my heart breaks, I have hope knowing that God has so much more to offer us than what's on this Earth. These things, this life, this Earth -- it's only temporary. God has a Kingdom prepared for us, and Earth is only our temporary home. He is preparing a place for us that is way better than we could ever imagine.

"For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come." Hebrews 13:14

These things are not forever. It is hard to see the bad things happening, but God has promised us much greater things planned for us than this Earth could ever give us. One day there will be no more suffering, no more pain, no more hurt. One day we will get to live an eternal life with our Lord and Savior.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4

I look forward to the day I get to spend with my Lord and Savior. While I am on this Earth, though, it is my job as a Christian to spread God's word and His love. To share with others what He has to offer us. To help bring others to Christ. In hopes that sharing His word will stop the hate, and the divide, in our country; to show people that we are all made in His image.

I pray for the people that are suffering, and I pray for the people that have a great deal of hate in their heart. I pray that the people that are suffering know Christ as their Lord and Savior, and know that this suffering will one day end. I pray for the people with so much hate in their heart that they end someone else's life, that they can find Christ as their Lord and Savior. I hope that by sharing God's word we can make this world a better place while we're on it.

"This is my temporary home. It's not where I belong. Windows in rooms that I'm passin' through. This is just a stop, on the way to where I'm going. I'm not afraid because I know this was my temporary home."
--Carrie Underwood--"Temporary Home"

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
