This Is How You Feel Alive

What’s the key to happiness? I believe it’s the second you start believing it’s possible to be happy.

This Is How You Feel Alive

Every day wake up and write on your heart that today is going to be the best day of your life. What’s the key to happiness? I believe it’s the second you start believing it’s possible to be happy.

"Being alive":

I think for a moment in time you should sit alone with your thoughts and think about what makes you feel alive. “Feeling alive”: like this is what living is, this is as good as it gets and I’m okay with that, soaring in the sky alone; without the affirmations of anybody else. What are your passions? What motivates you, crushes you, inspires you? What do you look at and think, “this is it, I could be doing this for the rest of my life and be perfectly content.” What makes you want to get up in the morning without a cup of coffee? Like if you had to take on the day without caffeine what would make it worthwhile?

Who you surround yourself with:

This concept of how the people you hang out with are the people you will become like. Find friends that you feel like you could do anything. As if you were to find more people like them and rid the people that aren’t, you would be in the best state of contentment. Notice who’s always negative. Notice who silently celebrates when you fail. Notice who drains you of your energy faster than you have to notice how their negative words affect you. Look for the people that are excited for the world. That when they look out into the future they are happy and purposeful.

What crushes you? (And why you should stop doing it):

What truly drains you of your energy? What makes you feel weak, uninspired, tired and empty? Yes, nobody enjoys life’s hassles like school and work but I’m talking about something that you do not have to do to be successful and prosperous. Really, what makes you feel empty? What thing that should be fulfilling and is taught to be, makes you feel completely empty inside? Run away from this. This is what is stopping you from finding your passion and calling. Run fast away from something that takes more out of you than it ever gives you. Write it down, hang it up and be reminded that it doesn’t have to have a hold on you.

Finding your passion:

What do you like to do? Truly, what do you enjoy doing that doesn’t involve a substance or a drug. Once you figure out what makes you feel alive, run fast after it. There are many people that go their whole lives without having a single passion. They lack a passionate heart because they aren't looking, what a shame that is. Don’t take for granted that God decided to show you yours. Take what you love; singing, sports, inventing, music, kids, makeup, cooking, hiking, writing, mentoring, cars, religion, dancing, photography, fishing, traveling, working out, meeting new people, volunteering, reading... the list goes on and on. If that makes you feel alive why spend a moment unhappy? If you’ve truly found what makes your heart sing, realize how beautiful a gift is it to know what you love to do.

Here’s to you:

This is it. Here’s your life. It’s laid out in a time frame already for you. The average life expectancy in 2016 is 81 years of age. Think, how much time have you wasted being unhappy with the life you live? But here’s a better question, how much time do you have left to fix it? Cheers.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
