People have been telling me to watch the show "This is us," for a long time now, and I've finally just caught up. By what people were telling me, I knew I would like the show but I didn't expect to love it and learn from it as much as I have. If you haven't watched the show, I promise you will love it. It doesn't matter who you are or what you like, you will love this show because it is about life: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Even though it is called "This Is Us," it's about all of us. We are all humans living in a world that sometimes likes to punch you in the heart repeatedly. But here's the thing, it's worth it. It's all worth it because we have each other to hold onto. When we hang on to our loved ones, we can do and face anything because when we are weak, they are strong. That's what "This Is Us," reminds me of. It might sound cheesy to compare such a deep truth to a tv show, but it's true. Every time I watch the show, I learn something new. Below I have made a list of five lessons I have learned from watching the show. If you haven't seen it, I hope it inspires you to watch and if you have, I hope you agree and enjoy looking at my list.

Five Lessons I've Learned From "This Is Us":

1. Cherish the time you have

This scene was really moving to me. I love William and just like Kevin says in one of the earlier episodes, he really could play the voice of a wise cartoon owl. No matter if we are sick like William, or just living life, we all are dying. It's true. No one truly knows how much time they have left and when you see life through that truth, you are able to wipe away the cares of this world and really experience your time on earth. So live your life! Sing too loud to the car radio, laugh so hard milk comes out of your nose, live in the moment. Just make sure you are living in the moment with the ones you love.

2. Be Thankful for your family

This is one of my favorite scenes in the show. The truth in this scene is that we all have family and no matter what, we need and should be thankful for them. Sometimes we laugh with them, we cry, we fight, we defend them, but at the end of the day, we will always love them. Your family members will always understand you in a way that nobody else will ever be able too. We get one family in this world and no matter where we go in this world, we are only truly home when we are with them.

3. Always love your siblings

There are so many things I love about this show, but I just adore Kevin and Kate's relationship. They are always there for each other because they know that no one in the world can understand them like their sibling. Their relationship teaches us all how precious sibling relationships are. Just like with family, no one in this world can fill the shoes of a sibling, cousin, etc. They show how strong a sibling connection is and how much fun having a sibling can be.

4. Nothing matches the love a parent has for their child

So many scenes with Jack and Randall when he is a kid made me cry. The flash backs to when Kevin, Kate, and Randall are kids are so touching. The flash backs show the power of a parent's love for their child and their willingness to do anything for their child's protection and happiness. I LOVE when Jack and Rebecca defend their children and prove that a parent will always do anything and everything for their child. This show expresses the unbreakable love a parent has for their kids in the most powerful and moving ways possible.

5. Keep your chin up

This quote is from the first episode (I won't give anything away or who says it)! I love this quote! It is basically saying, keep your chin up! Life can be really rough sometimes. But no matter what happens, the sun is always going to rise the next day and there will always be happiness and good times around the corner. There is nothing in this life so horrible that you can't come back from and one day live a life that makes you happy. I truly believe that with all of my heart.

I hope you enjoyed my article and that you are inspired to watch the show "This Is Us"! I promise you will fall in love with it after watching the first episode! Thanks for reading!

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
