I’m a hopeful and I am a dreamer. I am motivated to change the world, which is a phrase that is thrown around often. I love to ponder a lotand try to worry less. I love to think about how this world can be changed, but many times I get overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin…so where do I begin?
Well, I believe in order to make a positive impact on this earth we need to motivate this generation. Things aren’t going to change unless we start doing something. I believe with these five steps, this generation can start changing the world.
It’s up to us.
You have to be the change you want to see in the world now. We will soon graduate college, get “grown up” jobs, and start leading this country. We need to realize this! It’s exciting! So how do we want to shape the nation? I know sometimes it’s hard to think that one person can make a difference, but if we believe every single person has a part in this country, we can learn a lot, and make a change. It’s up to us to make the changes we want to see. When I hear someone complain about something in the world today, I like to ask, “why don’t you try and change it.” If you don’t change it, who will?
You can do it.
You can do anything you want. Yes, that is the most cliché thing ever, but you really can! It takes work and positivity, but you can do it. The first step to do anything you think you can’t do is take a breath and release all negative thoughts. Negative thoughts create a wall between you and what you can actually accomplish. Think positive, take a walk, get in your car and blast your favorite song and you’ll be motivated! Make a plan. Stop letting this world tell you that you can’t, because you can. One question I love to ask myself is, “why not?” For example, if someone were to tell me I couldn’t do something I would respond with exactly this, “why not?” In reality, you could do whatever you put your mind to.
Pay attention to politics, and let’s change them.
I know, once you saw the word politics you almost stopped reading. “Politics” leaves such a negative taste in this generation’s mouth - as it rightfully should in many cases. One thing I realized is that in order to change the country, we must improve the leadership. Now, I’m not saying let’s all become president of the United States, but why not change that negative taste in our mouths into a positive one? That would really be making a change in this country.
I believe these simple things can help us take on this somewhat scary world after we leave our comfortable college atmosphere. It is not up to our grandparents or parents to change the word now; it’s up to us. I am ready to make a change and leave my mark. Are you?
