This is our degree Mom and Dad, not just mine.

A college degree does not make you more important, worthy, or successful than others. My father provided for his family without getting a degree and even owns a business. My mother is a brilliant and wise woman who if you ask me is too good for college. My mom and dad knew everything that they needed to know to make a successful life together. Yet they wanted a different life for their daughter. They never forced me to attend college, but knew that getting my degree would mean I had a back up plan to whatever passions I decided to chase as an adult.

To the parents that did not let financial problems stop me from pursuing something greater than myself, thank you. I began to get scholarships but even those were not enough. My parents took out their own loan just so I could go to college. My parents let me stay with them through college and would even tell me not to stress about finding a job because passing school was more important.

To the parents that saw my dreams as actual realities before I did, thank you. Though they first questioned when I changed my major like any other parent would have, they did not stop cheering me on. My minor is in Criminal Justice and my father would tell me every time SVU came on that I would be able to do what they were doing. I would tell him it was impossible to get to that level and in complete seriousness he would say that I could make it. They had more hope than I had most of my college career, and because of that I was able to continue and finish my degree.

To the parents that pushed me when my motivation level was at zero, thank you. I know you guys have your own issues and struggles, yet you put all of that aside to attend to me and make sure that I was happy and healthy. You pushed me even when I did not want to be pushed and challenged me like no one else has or ever will. You tell me how it is yet you do it with love and care, thank you.

To the parents that comforted me when I had mental breakdowns about college financially and was lost as to what I would do next. You guys supported me when I dropped out of college for a semester and I know were probably scared yourself wondering if I would ever finish. Meanwhile, you never pushed me to finish. You were there at the end of the day with hugs and home cooked meals.

To the parents that created the heart I have now, thank you. It is because of you guys and the way you raised me that I possess the passions I do now. You told me to be confident, sassy, creative, and bold. You guys remind me everyday that I have a voice and that my voice is important. Because of you guys I found the passion to help those who do not have a voice.

To the parents who did not finish college, this degree is for you and me. I could have never done this by myself. Your help and hard work will never go unnoticed. Because of you guys, I get to dream even bigger and accomplish goals I had no intention of reaching.

Graduating college would have been impossible without my parents.

To the parents who supported their child to graduate, I love you. Thank you for never giving up on me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.

Here are some "Parks and Rec" moments that relate to life struggles that just about everyone faces.

April Ludgate

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

11 Ways To Live The Best Life You Can

Life is full of twists and turns, but you have to keep going.

Life is all about twist and turns, sideways and which ways. Nothing is permanent, so we should take risks, and chase our dreams. We are taught at a young age many lessons that will follow us into adulthood. What we aren't taught is how to feel, and how we handle those emotions. We just have to figure them out ourselves, and that's not fun. In my 21 years of living, I have come to know that way too many people can't handle emotions, or the fact that not everyone is dead inside like them. When you're like me, and you have zero control over your emotions, it's hard to feel comfortable around people who aren't so in touch with themselves. As much as I would like to feel nothing at times, I've accepted who I am and the fact that I can cry over practically nothing. So, there are some things in life that you just have to do.
