What is the significance of life if it's truly only about achieving your own happiness?
If the pursuit of happiness is all we have to live for, then our life purpose will constantly be changing and circumstantial. This selfish way of life constantly surrounded by possible things to find satisfaction in will never seem enough.
We are worshipful creatures. It is in our very nature to strive to honor something and give it our most time and attention. This concept of worshipping occurs every day in our lives whether we are conscious of it or not.
To worship does not necessarily mean that you are singing songs to God. Typically that is what we associate the word worship with, but worship is simply a great amount of devotion spend with someone or something.
Because we are creatures created to love God, we were created to have a want for satisfaction in Him as well. This does not always go that way though. Because we are sinful creatures we are by nature prone to disobeying what The Lord wants us to do. One of those things being to honor Him and find out worth and identity in Him.
This idea is not one that a lot of people follow because your identity is what makes you, you. If The Lord is your identity than He becomes more than just a religion, but He is your life. He becomes an intimate friend and guide and not a genie in a lamp as many people see God to be.
The thing that I love about The Lord is that He is not just another religion or a way to Heaven, but He is THE way to Heaven. He also wants us to desire to have a relationship with Him. This desire becomes our satisfaction and our identity as we grow in Him, but without The Lord, there isn't anything truly sustainable.
This fleeting goal to satisfy yourself in something other than God is never ending. I notice in my own life that when I begin to seek to glorify man instead of God, I become so restless in trying to be good enough.
Is this never ending, never satisfying goal to please everyone really worth it?
It is during those times though that God reminds me of my worth in Him alone, and this searching begins to cease. The importance of finding worth in Christ brings self confidence and identity that is better than any other thing that does not truly last.
Christ fills us and overflows us with his wonderful love that is more than enough. This necessity of life causes peace and no more need to drive for perfection because it is by His righteousness that I can trade my ashes into beauty. This is amazing grace
