Owen is an interesting place to live to say the least. Living there has definitely had its ups and downs, but I would say it has way more positive memories than negative ones. These are just a few of the things I have experienced while living in Owen Hall:
1.“Buzzby chillin.” I don't know who came up with it, but head to Owen's basement to find out what it's all about.
2. Greeks are everywhere. For some unknown reason, it seems that so many people affiliated with the Greek system happen to live in Owen.
3. Thursday nights that turn into Friday mornings around 2-4 a.m. are the worst times to try to sleep.
4. You constantly smell bad because you hate showering in the dorm showers with shoes on.
5. There’s always a foul odor in the hallway.
6. People are loud and obnoxious basically 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A huge majority of the time I am a contributor to that noise, so I can't really complain.
7. Girls are constantly running around from closet to closet trying to find the right outfit ... also guilty of this one.
8. People usually just barge into your room because you leave the door unlocked.
9. You look on Instagram to find someone else on your floor wearing your clothes … maybe that's just be a first floor thing.
10. Everyone seems to be out at night in the laundry room or Buzzby area pretending to do homework, but really socializing.
11. Food. People order cheesy bread about as much as they take naps, so way too often.
12. Tark Mart is key. The across the street, last minute trips to Tark Mart for snacks are always the bomb.
13. The number one reason it becomes obvious you live in Owen are the constant distractions. After living here for a semester, you make friends. When you make friends, they are always there to disrupt your studies.
It has become a bittersweet experience living in the chaos of Owen. But mostly sweet. For future Boilermakers, I advise you to Rush Owen 2015. You will be thrilled.
