If you are in love with Trump or Clinton, this article is not for you. This article is for those of you who, when faced with the up coming election, feel hopeless. This is for those of you who usually vote without question, but this year find yourself hesitant to even watch the news. This article is for those of you who see through it all and want to stop feeling so helpless. This is article is for you and for me.
So, I try not to get too political. It is a scary world out there when your freedom of speech is undermined by someone else's. What if I reference the wrong news reporter or state a fact that is two digits off? It will be slapped all over Facebook. It will be so much drama. I can't say the wrong thing or everyone will know and everyone will hate me. Or if I say the right statistics and prove a real point, someone will be offended and that just isn't worth it anyway. Conflict is scary and usually results in me crying in my bed over a tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream. I wear a white flag on my forehead, begging people to use "I statements" and take deep breaths when they are feeling heated up. I do not want to get political on my Facebook just yet, because it seems too personal, but I can not just sit here and continue to ignore what people are saying to me about this election.
On one side are the Trump haters who say, "He is a bigot." "He hates women." "His hair is thinning." "He talked about his genitalia in a national debate." On the other side we have Clinton haters, "She's married to Bill." "Rember those emails?" "She has pneumonia." No matter which way you look, everyone wants to point out the opposing candidate's flaws more than their own candidate's success. It is always, "Well, at least he isn't Clinton," or "At least she isn't Trump." People say this as if that is the only way we decide who to vote for, but it shouldn't be.
Call me a bull-moose, but I still believe I have some say in the way my country is ran. I am sick and tired of feeling like I have been forced into a corner of Trump vs. Hilary, when our country has a population of 324,118,787 people that I could have selected to run for president.
But let's be real, I live in a red state. I live in a place that is predestined to vote republican and elect Mr. Make-America-Great-Again. Most people says this gives me more of a reason to vote for the Democratic Party of I don't like Trump. As valid as this point is, I don't like Hilary either. So instead of letting these gaint political monsters force my hand, I am going to vote for someone I really believe in and I think you should too.
