Three friends, Kayla, Normandy, and Hailey decided they wanted to start their very own dance group out of their love for dance and friendship. They are calling themselves the Third Degree Dance team (DTT). "This team is about more than just trophies and medals," they said, "we are educated dancers who care about creating memories that last." About a month ago, the team reached out to me looking for a dance teacher to teach them privately. As their teacher, I would say, "They are a group of amazing girls with great potential and talent. The team meets with me for two hours every week for a private ballet class. Afterwards, I leave them with homework for the week, as well as, post information and new steps on their Facebook group." The team itself also posts videos and inspiration to each other on their group weekly. Outside of ballet class, they meet several times throughout the week at the YMCA to practice their new steps, rehearse choreography, and inspire each other. The team says that they simply inspire each other to work hard, practice, and improve. "Life is about finding the things that make you the happiest, we have found that in dance," says the group.
The team plans on competing later this year with solos, duets, and trios choreographed by themselves, with guidance from a teacher. They have looked into Tremaine, Bravo, and Showstoppers, all competing in Florida. They are doing several fundraisers to be able to participate including selling makeup erasers, tutus, and snap jewelry. You can find the links to each fundraiser through their website. They are also willing to do yard work, babysit, pet care, ect. to raise funds for their education and competitions. "Although TDD is small, we are also inspired. We strive to make our dreams become a reality," says the team. You can also donate directly to their website or directly to a certain dancer. They are always looking for more fundraising suggestions or sponsors!
They are located out of Port Charlotte, FL and can be contacted through ThirdDegreeDance@gmail.com or at (941) 487-0981. They also have a website and a Facebook page.
