The road to a happier life

The Power Of Positive Thinking

There are several factors that contribute to your mood everyday. If you wake up in the morning and tell yourself it is going to be a horrible day and you are in an awful mood, your day probably will not go well and you most likely will not get much accomplished. However, if you woke up and decided that your day was going to be great and you are thankful and positive, it will provide a strong foundation for your entire day.

Your positive thinking can affect everyone and everything around you. How does the attitude you have influence others around you? If you are thinking negatively you run the risk of bumming people out, whereas positive thinking has the ability to lift others up. Seeing a smile on your face may leave one on five other people! It has even been proven in many studies that smiling will make you happier too.

Lots of times, it seems to be absolutely impossible to be positive because nothing is going your way. But even if it feels like the end of the world, all you need to do is make a list of ten positive things that have happened to you in the past week and I promise that will be the road to your happier lifestyle. If you continue to do that when times get rough, it will teach you to look on the bright side of things and be positive.

Change how you look at every situation. When something wrong happens in your life, find a way to see how it will improve you as a person or teach you something that you could use later in life. Just remember, your situation could always be worse. So you just have to be thankful that it isn't to help you get through it.

Positive thinking is the road to a happier life. Try it one day. Wake up in the morning and listen to three of your favorite songs before you get ready for the day to put your mind in a positive place. Take the time to make yourself breakfast if you usually don't. Wear an outfit you feel good in. Stay clear of people who put you down. Bring your favorite book to work or school to read if you have any free time. There are so many things that you can do instead of stressing on all of the negative aspects of your life. Use that energy to stress over the positive aspects instead. That doesn't mean that you will never get upset or that everything will go your way. It means that even when times get tough, you are able to look past it all and find the happiness in your life.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
