I Think It's Time To Be Happy

Stop waiting for someone to fall in love with you, for sunny days, for the weekend, for life--Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the best out of the moment you're in right now. It's completely normal to have bad days, but life is too short to be nothing but happy. Whether your happiness comes from cuddling with your dog, or eating a whole pizza, live for yourself.

I'm not going to lie, I take life for granted way too often. I don't realize what I have, and then before I know it, it's gone. So, I’ve decided to change my ways. I realized true happiness can only be achieved if you do the things that make youhappy. If that means jamming to your favorite song in the car while stuck in traffic--do it. If that means dancing in the rain--do it. If that means binge watching your favorite show for hours at a time--do it. Do you see a trend? There is nothing wrong with expressing yourself and the quicker you realize that, the better. It's time to be happy and start enjoying life before it passes you by.

Stop worrying about everyone else's opinion of you. Generally speaking, most people don't ever have anything nice to say about others, (sad but true) so why even bother caring? Throughout my life I have done things to try to impress my peers and it has done nothing to benefit me in the long run. We, as a society, need to stop shaming people for the way they find their happiness. At the end of the day we're all one and we need to start understanding that. Find your true friends and get rid of the bad ones. Let go of the negativity in your life, whether its friends or partners, just let go.

Stop dwelling on the past. This is my biggest flaw. The past is called 'the past' for a reason. It happened to teach us a lesson. Stop thinking about your exes, and worry about the present. I know this is easier said than done, but it has to be done. If you want to think of the past, also think of the goodmemories, rather than all of the bad ones. There's a reason you and your boyfriend/girlfriend broke up, find it and hold onto that. You’re better off without that darkness in your life, trust me.

Start chasing your dreams. Whether your dream is to travel the world (like me), or becoming president, or owning your own business, hold on tight to that dream. Life is rough, and people are going to try to kill your dreams and your happiness, don't let them. Stay motivated and strive for greatness because you will find true happiness in the end.

The more you grow up, the more you get to know yourself. I personally have done a lot of growing up these past few months, and yes I have my bad days (sometimes bad weeks), but looking back to how I was a few months ago--I've never been happier.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
