The Ohio State University is an old school, so inevitably there are old dorms. There are a lot of great dorms on campus, but older dorms aren't so great. If you don't ever have to live in one, consider yourself lucky. If you do end up living in an old dorm, or have lived in one, you'll be able to relate. So here are some things that come along with living in an old dorm:
1. No air-conditioning
That's right, no air-conditioning. At all. And when it's super hot outside, you're going to need about a million fans.
2. Broken down elevators
So then you have to take the stairs and get sweaty just to get to your hot room.
3. Cockroaches
Remember: Step and twist until it crunches.
4. Super old microwaves and fridges
Sure, the microwave has dials and the fridge looks like your grandma's, but at least they work, right?
5. Urinals in the girls' bathrooms
It was an all-boys school back in the day. They just left them once they started admitting girls, so now we get to look at them while doing our hair.
6. Carpeted walls and old wallpaper
I wouldn't get too close, though. Whether it's carpet or ugly wallpaper, it's probably covering up some lead paint from when that was a thing.
7. Horror movie lighting
Time to get a bunch of lamps to combat the creepy, poor quality, yellow lighting the room comes with.
8. One tiny window (that doesn't even open)
If only Ron, Fred, and George could come and pull the screen off so it didn't feel like a prison window.
Although old dorms really suck sometimes, you will survive. When it comes down to it, it's still an amazing school. I'd rather be stuck in an old dorm than go to *ichigan. When it comes time for the housing lottery next year, good luck and
