Things You Wanted To Do Over Christmas Break But Never Did

By the end of my Christmas break, I completed one, maybe two of them, but most of the time it’s none of them.

Every year I go on Christmas break, I always plan a bunch of things that I want to do before I go back to school. I plan these activities out around October or November and always plan on completing them. By the end of my Christmas break, I completed one, maybe two of them, but most of the time it’s none of them.

1. Visit friends/family that you haven’t seen in awhile

You have those friends and family that you haven’t seen in months maybe even years. You plan on going to visit them and making it a day or even a weekend out of it. By the time the holiday’s are said and done, you realize that you have a few days left off from work and school and just want to relax. You really never end up making plans with the friends and family you wanted to see and they will have to wait till next time you have a vacation.

2. Sleep in

You get up at a certain time every day for school and your body is used to getting up at that certain time. By the time you get to be on a vacation, you want to sleep in but that never happens.

3. Read a book

Every day I’m at school, I want to read a book but studying and rehearsals take over my life. Christmas break is the only time that I would be able to read a book. However, once I get home, Christmas festivities and Netflix take over and yet again I still am unable to read the books that I wanted to read over the break.

4. Eat healthy

Everybody’s got to admit it. School food is not the best all the time. You thrive for the home-cooked meals that your mom makes. You want to lose the weight you gained over the first semester. You have all the intention to eat healthy when you get home but all the cookies and candy and home-cooked meals take over and you end up not eating healthy.

5. To not spend too much money

You get so much stuff for Christmas that you don’t really need to go shopping. Yet you still go because you get gift cards and they are burning a hole in your pocket. You say to yourself that you are only going to spend the amounts that are on the gift cards. Yeah, that never happens. You end up spending way more than the gift cards and go broke.

Christmas break, you will be missed. I will countdown until the day you are back with us, and maybe I can complete more than just one of these!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
