There are many things you learn how to do before you become an "adult" at 18. Such as walking, talking, reading, and all of the stuff in between. But there are many things that I have learned that someone can't necessarily teach you how to do. As I approach my 19th birthday soon, here are some of the things that I have learned along the way.

1. Never Give Up

Always reach for the stars. Dream big, and chase after those dreams. You can do it with hard work and determination, and never giving up on something that you love and are passionate about.

2. Always be yourself

You are who you are, embrace it!

3. Always say "I love you"

In person, on the phone, or whenever, always say "I love you" to the people you love. You never know when it'll be the last time you say it.

4. Always tell the truth

Telling the truth can go a long ways. Don't lie, tell the truth — it'll be better in the long run

5. Always use your manners

"Please" and "thank you" go a long ways nowadays. I don't know how people weren't raised to use their manners.

6. Always be kind

Kindness is needed a lot nowadays. Many people don't know how to be a decent human. Spread the world with kindness and always remember to be a kind human.

7. Travel often

Traveling makes the heart happy. Whether it's staying in the US or going out of the country, I know that I will have fun and have memories of a lifetime.

8. Love hard

9. Have fun

You have to have fun every once and awhile, so go to that party with your friends. Before you know it, you won't have time to have fun all the time.

10. Never say "goodbye"

It's not a goodbye, it's a see you later.

11. Stand up for what you believe in

Everyone is passionate about something. Let your voice be heard and stand up for what you believe in. Your opinion matters.

12. Make time for family

Family is everything. Friends come and go, but family is here to stay. There is only limited time with your family, so make the most of it.

13. Always give 100%

Don't half ass things. It's your time and money. If you give your 100%, you will get rewarded.

14. Save money

Saving money is hard for people, but when you do, it can work in your benefit, and you can actually buy that new car or go on that trip that you have always been wanting to go on.

15. But also treat yourself

Yes, treating yourself is okay. Everyone does it. Whether it's buying a new shirt or a new car.

16. Always respect others

Respect is earned, not given. Until someone abuses your respect towards them, always respect others.

17. Never change for anyone

You are who you are, and if someone can't accept that, then they shouldn't be in your life.

18. Take risks

Whether it's big or small, always take that risk instead of wondering "what if" all your life.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
