Things You Should Do In 2017
Miguel R Perez

For this week’s article, I’ve written a list of things you should do in 2017 to become a better person for our planet. By doing these things, you can help improve our world, other people, and yourself.

Become more educated about the world

There is a lot going on all across the world right now. It’s important for you to know and understand what is really happening. Read the news, read books and watch videos about all different topics and events. You should read and watch from multiple perspectives; you will have more understanding of what is truly happening. Knowing what’s going on in the world will let you form educated opinions.

Donate money to a cause you care about

Giving money to an organization or cause you care about is an easy way to change something in the world. You can make a difference in the world through so many amazing charities and organizations. You might not know how to stop global climate change or save endangered animals, but there are great organizations that do know how that you can help. There are so many different groups that need donations so it’s important to give as much as you can, even $1 can help make a difference.

Try new things

Be bold, be adventurous and try new things in 2017. When you try new things, you grow as a person. You experience something different and you are able to have a new perspective on the world around you. Going to new places and seeing something completely new to your eyes will give you a different view. By being open to new things, you allow yourself to be a free person who loves and enjoys life.

Do something to improve the environment

Global climate change is the biggest impact currently on our world. If people don’t begin to change their ways, our world won’t survive more than a few decades. It’s now or never to start lowering your impact on the environment. Start using refillable water bottles, recycle everything you can and bring reusable bags to the grocery store. If everyone begins to make small changes, the impact will add up and the planet can begin to heal.

Be kind, understanding and empathic towards others

There is a lot of hate in the world; there’s also a lot of love in the world. It’s important that you’re kind, understanding and empathic towards others. You should be as open and accepting of others as you can. Make a difference in people’s lives by being loving and caring towards them. Love is the future and progress of the world.

That’s my list of things you should do in 2017 to become a better person. I hope these things help you become a stronger, kinder, and more loving person towards others, yourself, and our world.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo
