While a lot of people struggle with getting out of their habits, I have found that some of the most common ones are things that we said we wanted to change but haven't. As a sophomore in college, I have learned that I am simply too old to have such silly habits. To be honest, I love being a 19-year-old girl 85 percent of the time. I feel youthful and have the ability to accomplish so many things. At the same exact time, I realize that my teen years are coming to an end, and it's time to start "adulting." I could go on forever about the difficulties of learning how to adult, but for me, it starts with getting out of my ridiculous habits.
Have you ever said to yourself that you were going to change an aspect of your life but haven't? I'm in the same boat with you. Every single year I tell myself that I'm going to stop procrastinating once school is back in session, but here I am writing my article the day it's due. Here's a list of things you said you would stop doing but still haven't gotten around to. Personally, I told myself I would stop doing half of these things at 16.
1. I am going to stop procrastinating on everything that I do.
2. I will stop clicking "next episode" on Netflix.
3. I will no longer take Snapchats in public.4. I will stop saying "you too!" when the waitress says "enjoy your meal."
5. I will stop shopping online during class.
6. This is the last time I'm eating an entire row of Oreos in one sitting.
7. I really have got to stop forgetting my umbrella.
8. I need to stop looking up people on Facebook moments after meeting them.
9. I will stop wearing T-shirts and leggings to class every day.
10. I will actually start going to the gym instead of saying that I will eventually.
11. I am going to stop snacking late at night.
12. I really need to stop writing things I've already done on my to-do list just so I can cross them off.
13. I have got to stop pretending to be on my phone in order to avoid acquaintances passing by.
14. I will stop sleeping with my makeup on.
15. I will stop cancelling plans at the last minute because I'd rather stay in bed.
16. I will stop staying up past 2 a.m. for no reason.
17. I will stop worrying about things I can't control.
18. I will stop being passive-aggressive and learn how to say what's on my mind.
19. I will stop being in denial about these resolutions that I never complete.
For those who can actually keep these resolutions, I applaud you. I mean really, I could learn a thing or two from people like you. For those of you like myself who are currently riding the "struggle bus" named denial, we will get our act together one of these days.
