7 Things I Will NOT Miss About College Life During Winter Break

With the end of the semester quickly approaching, many of us will soon be returning home for winter break.

As glorious as college life can be, it does have its downsides. Here are 7 things that I definitely WON'T miss about college life during winter break.

1. Campus Food

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of eating the same thing everyday for every meal (which is usually pizza, chicken tenders, or a bagel). Food from home just tastes better.

2. Communal Bathrooms (And Shower Shoes)

Having to wear shower shoes because you're sharing a bathroom with 30+ other people you don't know is probably the most annoying thing ever. ESPECIALLY when it's a girls' bathroom and none of them clean any of their hair out of the shower. A month of shower shoe-less showering sounds heavenly.

3. Morning Classes

No more early morning alarms to go to a Gen-Ed you're only taking because you HAVE to - at least for another month.

4. Not Being Able To Go Wherever, Whenever

One of the best luxuries at home is having my car readily available to take me wherever I want to go. Even though college campuses are pretty big, you can still feel trapped.

5. The Uncomfortable Bed

Finally being able to sleep in your own bed (for longer than a weekend) after a long semester of sleeping in an uncomfortable college dorm bed is going to be amazing.

6. Sharing A Room

I love my roommate just as much as the next person does, but it's going to be so nice to have my own room back and to be able to have my own personal space again.

7. Always Having Such A Busy Schedule

As college students, we're supposed to sleep for 8 hours a night, have 8 hours of work a day, and have 8 hours of leisure time, but when does that EVER happen? Balancing your school work, social life, and mental health is not an easy task. A month-long break should be exactly what we all need to regain some of our sanity.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

The Unwritten Rules Of "Talking"

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
