At the time, I was unaware what this new adventure called college would be like...
1. Getting into college is an accomplishment.
However, as exciting as it may be to hold up an acceptance letter from your dream school, the reality is that being a successfully student is what’s actually worth celebrating.
2. You will make friends, you will lose friends.
While it can be devastating, it’s normal
3. When it comes to friends, you will discover who your true friends are.
Homesickness? Guy drama? Grade drama? You find people who help you get through whatever’s hindering you.
4. And you will also be a support system to your friends.
Before college, I was oblivious to the importance of one.
5. You'll find yourself in all sorts of social situations.
You might feel like the life of the party. Or you may find yourself alone on a Friday night to catch up on homework. Know that both are perfectly fine.
6. Enjoy doing laundry without having to use quarters.
8. Take more AP classes.
Think about it this way, even if you don’t get credit or exemption, you’ll gain exposure to content that you may use later.
9. Treasure your time in your hometown.
You may be dying to get out, but you’ll miss it come move-in day.
And while I'm enjoying college now, these are some things I wish I was aware of earlier. So go ahead, pass this on to a friend in high school.
