Things I Will Miss Most About Elon When I Graduate

Things I Will Miss Most About Elon When I Graduate

Wow Elon, it's going to be sad to part ways with you after four solid years. Here are some of the things that I will miss most:

The weather

75 degrees and sunny in February? Sold. Elon has the perfect mix of fall/spring weather throughout the school year. There will only be a few days where it’ll get cold enough to break out your winter coat, and if there’s even a chance of snow you know you will have a guaranteed snow day.

The fountains

Elon is known for its fountains. You snap pictures of them on a daily basis, laugh whenever they get an excessive maintenance upgrade (does the KOBC fountain really need that many spouts?), and can be found swimming in them after a long night out.

The professors

Elon’s small class sizes are definitely a perk. Classes are interactive and your professor puts in the effort to know your name. It’s easy to form good relationships with professors and you know you can count on them for educational, professional and even personal advice.

The community

What other school would bring camels to campus to celebrate hump day or give out free Smitty’s just to boost students’ moods? No matter how diverse the campus may be, students always come together to enjoy different campus activities.

College coffee

College coffee is one of my favorite university events. It’s a place for professors, faculty, students and organizations to come together and enjoy a warm cup of joe. There’s always something new to discover Elon from one of the organization tables surrounding the commons.

The food

While our dining halls may not always have the most appetizing options, the restaurants right next to campus are full of amazing, local food. From the tacos at Tangent, pizza and garlic knots at Pandora’s Pies and variety of sushi options from Simply Thai, you never get tired of the same food places.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
