From the day we are born, our dads play a major role in our lives. They are there for us many times: ranging from helping us celebrate our greatest accomplishments, to being there even when we are in the slumps. Here are five things that sons can thank their Dads for:
1. Teaching us how to skate.
From our first fall to our first goal, we can always count on our dads for support. They taught us how to do crossovers, stop on both sides and play "dirty" in front of the net. If we were not skating fast enough, we would probably hear some coaching from the stands along the lines of "move your legs."
2. Sense of humor.
We can always count on our dads to make things interesting. Sometimes it is the little things that can turn a bad day into a good one. They are always there to provide the comedic relief after mom lectures us about misbehaving or breaking something in the house.
3. Being the first man we look up to.
Dads are often the first man we look up to when we are young. They help teach us the simple things in life, like how how to be a gentleman and what not to do on a first date. They become our role models and help keep us on the right track throughout life.
4. Introducing us to good beer.
Every dad out there has their favorite beer, but not all of them know what good beer is. Thankfully, there are a few dads out there who know the difference between "piss water" and a quality pilsner or lager.
5. Teaching us how to tie a tie.
Whether it was for a date, a party or a high school dance, we relied on our dads to help show us how to tie our ties. It usually resulted in us giving up and handing them the tie so they could just do it for us.
In reality, this list could go on forever since there is always something new that our dads do for us. Thank you to every dad for always being there for us, for always stepping in to defend our actions, and for always believing in us. We love you.
