It seems like I really have to just come to the understanding that people are seriously voting for the biggest bigot to ever run for president. So I also have to understand that there are many more bigots than I originally envisioned walking the country. However, bigotry comes from small-minded people—and small-brained. So I just want to point out some of the responses I've been given in arguments that prove this.
Me: Aren't you an immigrant?
Trump supporter: Yeah, but I don't fit the profile of the immigrants Trump is against.
Trump supporter: Why can't we be happy having two different opinions?
Me: Because your opinion involves voting for someone who seeks to oppress women, aka me.
Trump supporter: True.
Trump supporter: Melania really messed up. It's clear that she copied everything word-for-word from Michelle Obama.
The next day...
Same Trump supporter: They were just really similar; the words weren't even in the same order.
Trump supporter: Donald Trump is the emblem of the American Dream.
Me: He was actually always rich. Hillary came from a lower class background to become the first woman to be a presidential nominee.
Trump supporter: Well that's because of her last name.
Trump supporter: People who like Donald Trump are very open-minded and like discussion—unlike the intolerant left.
Me: Oh, for sure...
I'm not saying people can't have an opinion, I'm just saying: an opinion can be based on no facts at all and, therefore, be wrong.
