For whatever misguided reason, makeup can be pretty controversial. Men love to say they prefer natural looking women and women can sometimes shame other women for their love of makeup. Some people even go so far as to say that makeup is the root of self-esteem issues. Besides all this, being a makeup addict is the best thing ever. You’ve learned how to beat your face to the makeup gods and made some of your closest friends because of your mutual love of makeup. Here are some things true makeup addicts know to be true.

1. Mornings are 100 percent easier when waking up to makeup.

Mornings suck but knowing you can wake up to perfect your ultimate masterpiece makes them a little better.

2. There is only one true beautyblender.

It may be expensive and there may be knockoffs for far less but the original beautyblender will forever hold your heart.

3. Payday means Sephora Day.

You don’t know why and you don’t know how but when you get paid you always somehow end up in Sephora hours if not minutes later.

4. Speaking of Sephora…

You are a Beauty Insider member and despite the fact that it means you’d have to spend $1,000 at Sephora you still look forward to the day you become a VIB Rouge Member.

5. Boys have told you they felt deceived.

Oh yeah, my lips are naturally this red and my eyes always have a bit of gold shimmer in the corner with red in my crease.

6. Makeup videos on YouTube will waste your entire afternoon.

It started with how to wing your eyeliner and ended with how to blend with a sock.

7. You know makeup is not exclusive to one gender.

And anyone who says otherwise has obviously never seen Bretman Rock blend his eyeshadow.

8. You love yourself now more than ever.

Something about taking extra time out of your day all for yourself makes all the difference and no one can tell you otherwise.

Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
