Through this election, people have been yelling at each other, and hating each other, disagreeing with each other to the point where it starts to get out of control. And ultimately a lot of people have just been forgetting what is important as humans for us to remember. I know a lot of people are ready for this election to just be over (and I am too, trust me). Someone will be elected president on Tuesday, and some people will be really mad, and others will be relieved. But no matter who is elected president, there’s some things that you just shouldn’t forget:
Everyone is equal.
No matter the color of your skin, no matter the religion you choose, no matter your sexuality, no matter your gender; we are all equal. You are not better than anyone else. You are not worse than anyone else. We all have the same rights as human beings. Which brings me to respect.
Everyone deserves respect.
I really mean everyone. Even if the person next to you believes the exact opposite of what you believe, in all aspects of life, that person still deserves your respect. They deserve respect from you, and you deserve respect from them. No matter what.
Everyone is important.
Just because someone isn’t like you, does not mean they don’t matter. This country is about everyone being equal, and everyone being free. So remember that. Everyone is important enough, that they deserve the exact same rights as you do.
You do not have the right to touch anybody without their permission.
No matter what. You cannot force yourself on anyone. No matter what they were drinking, what they were wearing, if they were alone. They were not "asking for it." No one is ever asking for it.
So, you can share as many articles as you want, you can tweet as many tweets as you’d like, and you can support whoever you believe is good enough to support. But no matter who you choose to vote for on Tuesday, you need to remember to love and respect everyone around you.
So vote. It's important. And please, just stop all the yelling.
