If you are anything like me, then Halloween is your favorite holiday! You look forward to the color change of the leaves (but not the change in temperature) and can't wait for that one day a year that you get to be something awesome. For some, Halloween is jut another day, but here are some things that you can do this Halloween to get into the spirit (full pun intended)!
1. Have a Movie Marathon
You could do the whole "25 Days of Christmas" things and watch a Halloween movie every day, like any of the Halloweentown movies, or any movie ever made by Tim Burton. Or, you could watch The Nightmare Before Christmas twenty-five times, which would be equally as awesome. This way you can get into the real Halloween creepy spirit!
2. Eat Candy
One of the best parts of Halloween is that you can eat copious amounts of candy and it is perfectly normal for the time of year. It is especially great because you can get large bags of your favorite candies in convenient bite-size packages in bulk. And, even if you don't want a ton of one type of candy, there are value packs so you can have a huge assortment!
3. Make Treats with Candy
Even better than eating the candy is making things with the candy, like cookies. You can make the pretzles with the Hershey's Kisses and Candy Corn, or you can make the colorful, themed sugar cookies. Or, you can combine a bunch of the candy with popcorn and white chocolate and make white chocolate-covered popcorn, which is probably one of the greatest desert inventions ever.
4. Go Costume Shopping
If you get really into Halloween, you still dress up, despite the fact that you are an adult. Dressing up is probably the best part of Haloween because you can be anything you want and no one will question you for it. I especially love costume shopping because you get to see all of the great ideas that manufacturers have, as well as getting to play with all of the props. Some of my more notable bought costumes include Jack Sparrow, Snow White, and Galadriel.
5. Make your own costume
Just as much fun, and cheaper, is making your costume yourself! A few years ago, I took my roommates old prom dress and made her an Elsa costume with it, and it came out pretty great, if I do say so myself. Not to mention, you can do it with your friends while watching Halloween movies and eating candy.
6. Go Trick-or-Treating
Trick-or-Treating is awesome. There is nothing like going around house to house soliciting free candy from complete strangers in the middle of the night. I have been lucky though and have always gotten treats, and have never been tricked (I'm sorry to all of those unfortunate souls who have).
7. Carve a Pumpkin
I absolutely love to carve pumpkins. I like to do it in groups, especially when you can bake the seeds after with a little bit of salt! Some of my favorite things that I have carved include Darth Vadar and the Death Star.
8. Go to a Haunted Attraction
The best place to go on Halloween has got to be Salem, Massachusetts. With their historical sites involving the Salem Witch Trials, it is equally fascinating and creepy! Or, you can do what my friends and I are doing this year and travel to an actual haunted location to be locked inside it for a few hours. That way, you can experience the ghosts and ghouls up close!
