One of the reasons I've been so excited for Thanksgiving break is to see my mom. She's my best friend in the whole world! Since being away at college without her is super hard, here are 10 things I'm going to do to make my time back home more special:

1. Have a Movie Marathon Day!

My mom and I both have a Harry Potter obsession, so we already have a movie marathon planned! Plus, all of the Harry Potter movies are coming out on Netflix soon- how cool is that???

2. Go Get Pedicures and Manicures!

Everybody is broke while they're in college, so I haven't been able to splurge on getting a pedicure (nor have I had the time!), so my mom and I are definitely going to have a spa day while I am home for break.

3. Bake Thanksgiving Goodies together!

This is probably my all time favorite thing to do. My mom is always trying a new recipe or baking something super yummy, so I can't wait to be home and try the new dishes she's discovered! Hopefully, I'll learn a few tips and tricks from her this week too.

4. Go Black Friday Shopping together!

If you're anything like me, then you LOVE to shop. And a day dedicated to deals and bargains is right up my alley!!! Spend this day with your mom; you may even be able to grab a few Christmas presents!

5. Decorate Your House for the Holiday Season!

This one should probably wait until the day after Thanksgiving; however, crank up the Christmas carols and start hanging red sparkly ornaments and garland everywhere. My mom has the best taste in holiday decorations, so I can't wait to see what she has in store for this year!

6. Help Her Out Around the House

I know, it's not the most fun thing to do during Thanksgiving break, but she'll appreciate it. Our moms do so much for us, and we should give back to them every once in a while!

7. Give Her A Makeover!

My mom loves letting me practice my hair and makeup skills on her, so this is a super fun way for us to spend time together!

8. Have A Girls Only Date At Your Favorite Restaraunt!

My mom and I both have an undying love for Mexican food, so you can bet that we'll be having a queso date at our favorite Mexican place as soon as I get home.

9. Go On A Vintage Shopping Spree!

This one is a little different than the Black Friday shopping option. Going to the local flea market, antique shops, and vintage stores is so much fun. There are so many cute little trinkets and things you can find, especially around the holiday season. Take your mom, and she is sure to enjoy the Christmas themed antique decorations you can find at vintage stores and flea markets during this time of year.

10. Spend Your Last Day At Home Doing Your Mom's Favorite Things!

Eat her favorite food, watch her favorite movie, lounge around in your PJs and cuddle with your pups. Your mom will appreciate this lazy day full of her favorite things- including you.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
