Things To Do While Social-Distancing

Believe me, I don't like self-distancing anymore than you do but it's important to stay healthy and happy during this pandemic. Being away from your friends, work, school, or even family can be tough on our psychological health. It is important to remember to still do things that make us happy, even though we are having a health crisis.

Paint, Get Creative

I know that painting may not be everyones forté, but it has been proven that being creative is a real stress reliever. For me, painting and drawing have always been my go-to when I am stressed about something, or just want to get my mind off of things. Being creative is a good way to get out of your comfort zone and be stress free.

Exercise

I would't recommend going to the gym during this time, but you can do almost any workout from home. It is important for you not to let your physical health, as well as your mental health, deteriorate. You can also go walking around your neighborhood. Being physically active is always important.

Get Outside

When officials say to distance yourself from others, they don't mean you can't go outside. It is actually important to get some fresh air every once in a while. Walking your dog, washing your car, or even gardening can be a good reason to get out of your house. It isn't healthy to say cooped up in your home for a long period of time, we should all find reasons to get outside.

Catch Up On TV

This time is a better time than any to get caught up on your favorite TV show. I've already started binge watching some new TV shows on Netflix i've been meaning to watch because I never had the time. Netflix also now has "Netflix Party" where you can watch the same thing as your friends at the same time. It is a good way to stay connected with your friends.

Stay Connected

During this time, we must not forget about our friends and family. Be sure to still communicate with those you care about. make sure they are mentally and physically in a good place. Also be sure to check up on your grandparents, it's always important to show love to those who are also affected by the scare of the Coronavirus. Staying connected is a good way to make sure no one feels alone.

These may not be a lot, but I hope I have inspired people to make sure they are physically and mentally in a good place. Together, if we practice social distancing, we can conquer this malicious virus and soon be back to normal.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
