12 Fool Proof Methods To Relieve Everyday Stress

Life in the 21st century is stressful, especially for college students. To avoid getting too overwhelmed and letting your stress pile up, try to do at least one of the things on this list every single day. (or more for bonus points!)

1. Take a bath

If you have time for a nice bubble bath, make it happen! Don't underestimate the power of a bath bomb and an episode of Gossip Girl bath-side.

2. Have a cup of tea

And just sit and drink it! No distractions! Focus on nourishing your body and spirit.

3. Listen to music

Do this very consciously. Put on headphones, turn the music up and just listen.

4. Go on a walk outside (and not just between classes)

Humans need vitamin D and almost nobody gets enough of it! Go breathe some fresh air!

5. Color

This has been proven to reduce stress! Take out your coloring books and pencils for a great distraction.

6. Play with Play-Dough

If you don't have it, buy it! It is so cheap, and not just for children, I promise.

7. Take a nap

Sometimes you just need an escape! Taking an hour nap is a perfect way to reset your mindset

8. Cry

This is a great stress reliever! Of course do not try to make yourself cry, but if you feel it coming on, let the water works happen.

9. Talk to a friend or family member

You don't even have to talk about your stress! Face timing your friends and family from home is a great way to feel grounded.

10. Eat an obnoxiously healthy/fresh meal

I'm talking a kale salad with lemon juice, or ceviche, anything that you will actually enjoy. Eating something fresh will make you feel so good in the short and long term.

11. Go for a walk or a drive

Or ride your bike! Being in motion is a wonderful method of stress relief!

12. Journal

Write down how you are feeling that day to look back on it later and remember what your mindset was that day!

This is a list of preventative measures so keep up with lowering your stress little by little every day. Remember that stress is often an acquired collection, not just built up in one day. Don't let your stress get the best of you and ruin your mood!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
