After a month and a half of relaxation and fun, school is back in session. Everyone is dreading going back to waking up early and having to adjust to a strenuous schedule after a month and a half of relaxing and not worrying about responsibilities.

Going from "vacation mode" to back to "school mode" can be difficult for many people to adjust to. Especially if we didn't even have two months worth of a break, but there are many ways kick the back-to-school blues' butt and get back into the swing of things, so you can have an awesome semester.

1. Buy your textbooks

It may drain your wallet out a little bit, but if you rent on sites like Chegg or Campus Book Rental, you'll be saving a lot. Plus, you will be ahead of the game since you would already have your textbooks before the semester even starts.

2. Rekindle with friends

That period of time between when you and your friends move back in and the start of the semester is a great time to catch up and tell each other about your winter breaks.

3. Pick out your first-day-of-the-semester outfit

Like with the first day of the fall semester, everyone wants to look their best for the first day of the spring semester. Plus, it's a great time to try on that cute outfit your mom got you for Christmas.

4. Make a killer breakfast

A big, healthy breakfast will guarantee better grades and better focus in your classes.

5. Set new goals

While you probably already set goals for the new year, you still had two weeks of avoiding responsibilities and the such. A new semester can often be the best time to set goals and start working on them.

6. Start a reading list

Reading as much as you can when you have the free time, instead of spending endless hours on Facebook, is a great way to get the creative juices flowing and can help get your brain working throughout the semester.

7. Make a checklist

Planned to do something during winter break but never got around to it? No worries! Just make a checklist of all the things you want to do while there's still a little bit more winter break to squeeze out.

8. Plan something fun

While there's still a little bit of winter break left, you should plan something fun in order to beat the back-to-school depression that everyone's dreading.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
