Spring Break is a time that every college student looks forward to since it's a time of rest and relaxation.

A time and place of utter bliss, if you will. While many students retreat to tropical places and trips, there are also students headed home for their well-deserved break. While at home, there are so many things to do and places to see.

So if you find yourself looking for some inspiration for what do you over your Spring Break, here you go:

1. Take a day-trip or weekend trip to a nearby place.

There's nothing I love more than taking a trip to a new place or some of my favorite places near home. It's great to hop onto the train and go into the city for a day. It's a place filled with new adventures each time you go.

2. Go shopping.

It is the absolute best time to start stocking up on new clothes for the spring and even start your summer shopping. Treat yourself; you deserve it after all the work you have had for the past couple of weeks.

3. Start or finish the book sitting on your shelf.

I have about six books that are currently sitting on my shelf. I mean to read them, but I never have the time at school. Curl up on your couch or even outside (if it's warm enough) and get reading.

4. Spend time with your friends from home.

Have a girls night and get together with your friends from home. Nothing's better than lying around and watching a movie together. Rest and relaxation at its best.

5. Spend time with your family.

Break is the best time to catch up with your family. I love getting to day-trip to go see my family and spend time with them. Even taking the time to catch up with family that you don't get to see often is so nice. It's the perfect opportunity.

6. Go visit friends who aren't on Spring Break.

Everyone always has different time off for spring break, so take advantage of the opportunity. Travel to a friend and stay the night. See what their campus has to offer and meet some new people.

7. Sleep.

Honestly take a nap, sleep until one o'clock in the afternoon; your body needs the recharge. Take advantage of quiet, uninterrupted hours and hours of sleep. Your body will thank you later.

8. Start that new series on Netflix.

You have a whole week to binge watch. While it is dangerous and serious damage can be done, take the opportunity and start the series you have wanted to watch. The options are endless, so take advantage people.

9. Go outside.

Go for a run around the neighborhood or walk your dog. It's time to go outside, get some fresh air and recharge. Even just eating a meal outside with your family can help you relax.

10. Get organized.

Clean out your closet or your room. Maybe catch up on some schoolwork. I know, I know, nobody wants to do homework over break, but it's a good opportunity to get ahead on your work. Clean out your closet or your room. They don't call it spring cleaning for nothing.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
