Spring break. Infamous for traveling and getting lit. Unfortunately, if you're a broke student like me, a vacation is not in the realm of possibilities. Fortunately, I've compiled a list of fairly cost efficient alternatives to going on vacation that can keep you busy over break.
1. Hiking Trip
As the days getting longer and the weather getting warmer, the want to explore the great outdoors significantly increases. Whether a overnight trip at a camping site or a hike around a local trail, hiking is the perfect staycation or vacation.
2. DIY Projects
There's something about spring that makes me want to get crafty. From Youtube videos to Pinterest, there are so many platforms to find fun and affordable DIYs.
3. Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning doesn't always have to refer to your closet or room, but general organization. I always like to get rid of old binders and other work that I no longer need, clean out my email and organize them into folders, and other things in your life that may have been cluttered during the winter.
4. Learn How to Cook a Dish
If you're like me and have no free time to experiment with new foods in college and end up making yourself instant ramen all the time, learning to cook a dish would be perfect. Turn on that cooking channel, put on your "kiss the cook" smock, and hop into the kitchen.
5. Amusement Park
In optimal spring conditions, taking a day trip to a nearby amusement park is the perfect getaway with friends or family. It's the perfect balance of an optimal spring vacation without the hassle of having to plan for hotel or travel arrangements.
6. Day Trip to City
No matter where you live, you can't be more than a day trip away from a city, which is the perfect way to spend any spring day, regardless of the weather conditions. Whether New York City or Washington D.C., there's always so much to see in cities from bucket list food places and museums to famous movie locations and beautiful wall murals.
7. Thrift Shopping
Not only is thrift shopping perfect for balling on a budget, it can also be much more fun and rewarding than actual shopping. Spending time fooling around with friends and trying on cheap clothes is always a plus. And the $10 Kate Spades are not horrible either.
