Things To DO, Places To Be

Where do you want to travel? This is what I want to do.

There aren't many ideas off the top of my head when I ask myself one question. What do you want to do when you travel? Like I can't really name what I want to do in each of the 7 continents. I am just wanderlust; or rather a strong desire to travel. So I'm going to google a few cool things to do in every part of the world.

Since I really can't list all of the things I will probably want to do, I'm closing my eyes and letting the mouse on my computer screen guide me to random states to start the list off. I live in Georgia so I have seen most of the things listed under my state.

1) New Orleans, Louisiana

There are many things to do on Bourbon Street. Other than the gumbo and the fantastic parties that are thrown every night, one of my favorite tv shows are based in New Orleans. The Originals, a spin-off of Vampire Diaries is about the original family of vampires trying to find a home in New Orleans for the second time. Because the first time they did, it ended up with the city up in flames. I would very much love to go on a tour through the city and cemeteries to hear about the myths of New Orleans.

2) New York City, New York

Need I say anything? I want to take a few days and just see every musical that is playing. I want to see Wicked, The Blue Man Group, CATS, and Chicago. There are probably a thousand things that I will find I want to do later. Haha.

3) Anchorage, Alaska

I want to go on a 5-day train voyage around Alaska. I want to see the wildlife. I want to taste some of the food. I want to take a helicopter ride over the water, watching whales jump out of the water.

(Now onto Non-USA areas)

4) Barcelona, Spain

Wasn't it the Cheetah Girls that came to Barcelona? They sang here. It was the first glimpse at this pretty city that I got. I want to see original works of Picasso. Also I want to see the city's artists in graffiti and museums.

5) Florence, Italy

I want to see Michelangelo's artwork. I want a tour of Florence and it's cobblestone streets. Taste fine wine and eat the best food of their culture.

It is unbelievable how much the world has to offer and I can't wait to take advantage. This is only a bite of the whole pie that I will eat. What are the places you want to go? Is there anything you really want to do when you get there?

Remember, you can do anything you put your mind too. If you want to travel, I say do it. We only live in the present. I can't wait to be able to just explore my wanderlust.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
