10 Things To Do Over Christmas Break
Sister What!

Winter break is such a great time of the year. Finals are over, and it is a time to relax and enjoy the holiday season with family and friends. Here is a list of fun things you need to do to get into the Christmas Spirit

1. Drive around and look at Christmas Lights

You can go to a park that has a light display or neighborhoods that have houses with light displays. Either way, it is super fun to drive around and look at all of the lights with friends and family.

2. Watch FreeForm’s 25 Days of Christmas

This channel has possibly the best selection of Christmas movies, playing from December 1 to December 25, ranging from cartoons to romance (my personal favorite is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation)

3. Decorate a Christmas tree

My family goes and picks out a real tree and then we decorate it that evening. Real or fake, decorating a Christmas tree with your family is great bonding and fun (especially when you decorate while listening to Christmas music).

4. Gingerbread House Competition

Compete with your siblings and see who can make the best-looking gingerbread house (it's harder than you think to make one).

5. Secret Santa exchange with family/friends.

Secret Santa is one of my favorite activities. Everyone who takes part in the gift exchange picks a name and is in charge of getting that person a gift. The catch is, no one knows who has who. It’s exciting to find out who got you when it is revealed at the end. Secret Santa is also a great way to get to know your friends or family members by trying to figure out what they would want to get for Christmas.

6. Bake cookies

Everyone bakes during the Holiday season. My family and I personally love to make cookies and pretzels dipped in chocolate. There are endless possibilities in terms of cute Christmas treats to bake for Santa or just for dessert at Christmas dinner.

7. Go to a Christmas Eve church service

The whole reason for the season is Jesus’ birth. I highly encourage you to attend a church service to celebrate the reason for the season. If you don’t have a church to go to and are in the Greensboro area, I want to invite you to our services which can be found here: https://www.daystargso.com

8. Make an ugly Christmas Sweater

Everybody loves a good ugly Christmas Sweater. Instead of buying one, be creative and go to Walmart and buy a sweatshirt, markers, tinsel, and ornaments. You can make your own sweater with a Christmas tree and real ornaments hanging on it, or come up with your own design. Everyone will be impressed with your craftiness.

9. Make your own ornaments

Design your own ornaments for your Christmas tree. You can use already made ornaments and just paint them, use clay, or anything else you can think of. There are many ideas out there on Pinterest you can use for inspiration.

10. Family Time

The Holiday Season is all about spending time with family and celebrating Jesus’ birth. So, make sure to spend time with your family whether it be watching a movie together or baking cookies.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
