What could be better than finding out you have a snow day? Knowing you have a large pizza waiting for you, that's what's better. But anyway, that's another story. Snow days are great. And sometimes when the blessing of having a snow day comes around, you might wonder what you can do while you're trapped inside your dorm. When you feel like you're bored out of your mind on your snow day, here are some things you can do that Spongebob from "Spongebob Squarepants" has definitely enjoyed doing. Enjoy your day off from classes!

1. Catch up on sleep

Ahh, yes. This is one of my favorite things to do. You can sleep in for another hour, two hours, or you can even just sleep the whole day away. I know everyone has definitely done this, so don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for choosing to sleep in all day.

2. Binge watch Netflix

.

I love binge watching Netflix, but honestly who doesn’t? Currently, I’ve been watching Prison Break, and watching Netflix all day while it’s snowing out is definitely a yes for me. Don’t forget to stand up and walk around for a couple minutes, or else your legs might fall asleep if you sit for so long. That’s from personal experience.

3. Give yourself a spa day.

Treat yo’self. Paint your nails. Take a nice and long shower. Take time to put a face mask on and relax. You deserve it, and your skin will appreciate it too, especially with the harsh and cold weather outside.

4. Go play in the snow.

Playing in the snow can be fun. You can have a snowball fight with your friends, play manhunt, build a snowman, and many other things. Just remember to bundle up, because I’m sure you don’t want to go back to class with a cold.

5. Workout.

Get a yoga mat, and do some yoga. Or you can do your normal routine in your room, but if you need any weights, then you’re out of luck. You could use your heavy and expensive college books if you’re really desperate.

6. Read for fun.

I bet some of you are thinking, “Psh, who reads for fun?” Well, I do and there are a lot of people that still like to read for fun.

7. Be creative.

If you’re a little artsy, you could draw or paint. You could also get a little crafty, and make little knickknacks for your friends and roommates if you want. I like drawing and painting, personally, I think it’s relaxing and I can express myself through my work.

8. Clean your room.

You know you need to. You might as well take some time out of your snow day to do some cleaning.

9. Order some take-out

.

If you get too lazy to walk to the dining hall, then you could always order some take-out. But tip the poor man or woman a little extra for having to walk or drive through all that snow.

10. Catch up on homework.

You could take some time out to catch up on some homework because I think everyone could use a little extra time for homework. Time to get crackin’.

11. Don’t do homework.

You could also not do your homework, and procrastinate like me. Because if you really love sleeping, then you should do what makes you happy. And what makes me happy, is sleeping.

12. Do absolutely nothing.

That’s basically it. Just don’t do anything. It’s great.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
