In This Article:

So you have finished watching all your favorite shows on Netflix and are tired of listening to the same monotonous news on the TV. Here's what you can do to be more productive while you're stuck at home!

Try yoga

Giphy

Yoga has been life-changing for me during the quarantine. I never intended to try it and the first time I did was because my mom kept reiterating its endless benefits. When I sat down one evening and started focusing on relaxing my muscles, I realized how calming it is!
With everything going around in the world today, a little relaxation is just what we need and yoga helps in elevating stress and stimulating the body. Your top priority should be to maintain your mental and physical well-being so set realistic goals and do what you can, even practicing it twice a week is beneficial. Try and find a place that is peaceful and quiet to avoid bumping into the wall!

Learn to cook a new dish

Whether you are an experienced cook or brand new at cooking, utilize this time to experiment with some interesting recipes!

There are plenty of delicious and fulfilling recipes you can cook when you're bored and have nothing to do. You don't have to be a master chef to make some tasty desserts. All you need is some sugar (usually) and an empty stomach (obviously!!) Try your hand at making some irresistible chocolate cake or go for some lavish creation like a dutch apple pie. You can even watch a baking show while eating! Isn't that interesting?

If you haven't watched The Great British Baking Show, you're missing out on some of the best recipes! This show is insightful and full of amazing cooking tips! You can even learn how to avoid a soggy bottom ( and much, much more) with tips from one of the best bakers, Mary berry!

So, now when you feel boredom stricken in the lockdown, cook some scrumptious food while watching your favorite baking shows!

Create your ultimate vision board

What kind of life do you want? Where do you want to live? What countries do you want to visit? Creating a vision board with answers to all these questions is a great way to use your creative skills. Draw a few images or just print them out and stick them on a blank sheet of paper. It's a powerful tool that helps you identify your interests and prepare for your future.

Hang the board in your room at a place where you can see it every day and try to visualize your goals which will help you achieve them!

Organize a virtual party

Google

Who doesn't love to party? Organizing a party with your friends seems impossible in times like these but with Zoom you can host a virtual party with your friends. Gather all your foodie friends for a nice dinner over Zoom. Have everyone prepare some meals or y'all can watch some cooking videos together and make tasty dishes.

Don't forget to create an online party invitation so that everyone has a link to the meeting and online invitations create excitement at a time when we need social gatherings more so than ever!

Learn a new language

Google

While you're stuck at home, you can surely pick up a new language to learn. All of us know of at least one language we wish we knew and now is the perfect time to learn a fun new language. Learning a new language is super easy and there are dozens of apps available online which provide this service for free. Duolingo is one of the most efficient learning tools which helps you become fluent in different languages.

When I started watching One day at a Time, a popular sitcom on Netflix, I got motivated to learn Spanish. I used Duolingo and I loved it! The other reason why I started learning Spanish is that I have been living in New York for the last 2 years and it is the second most common language spoken there. So, in my opinion, speaking another language is an incredible skill and you should be proud if you have decided to pursue this in lockdown!

Buena Suerte - on your new language learning journey!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
