1. Visit Market Square
There are many different restaurants, bars, theaters, and places to stay in Market Square. The best places to go are Tupelo Honey Café, Blue Coast Grill & Bar, Trip Café, The French Market Creperie, and Coolato Gelato. There are different shopping places, boutiques, and small vendors there at any given time. Everything is within walking distance and it’s the perfect thing to do in the spring and fall!
2. Go to a University of Tennessee Sports Game
If you’re visiting during the fall, go to a UT football game on a Saturday and make your way around the University of Tennessee’s campus either to tour the campus, tailgate, or enjoy the food that people make on game days! In the spring, go to a basketball or baseball game and enjoy the Knoxville weather.3. Visit the Knoxville Zoo
Take your friends or family to the Knoxville Zoo. You can take your family, sports team, sorority, or fraternity for a special event! They have group ticket rates for cheap to make the events less expensive for everyone. Enjoy the food, weather, and the animals!
4. Ijams Nature Center
Ijams Nature Center offers places for you to go hiking, site seeing, and picnic. Take a day trip with your friends or family and take some pictures!
5. McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture
Built in 1962 and housed on UT’s campus, go to this free museum to learn more about the Civil War and other exciting historical events. This museum has many different changing art exhibits, culture, and history. It exhibits local history, natural history, archaeology, and art. You can normally see students going to class in this building or schools going on a tour. It’s a great way to learn about Knoxville’s history.6. Women's Basketball Hall of Fame
For a small fee of under $10, you can learn the history behind women’s basketball and play in a gym area located there! It has the world’s largest basketball and the Hall of Fame’s Pat Summitt Rotunda honoring the University of Tennessee’s amazing basketball coach. It honors over 100 inductees.
7. Star of Knoxville Riverboat
Take a boat tour on the Tennessee River! This is great for a day trip with the family or even weddings.8. Volunteer Princess Cruises
Similar to the Star of Knoxville Riverboat, you can take a boat tour, have a private or public brunch, and spend time with your family and friends.9. Tennessee Theatre
Built in 1928, The Tennessee Theatre is a 1920's era movie palace. They hold events like the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and Old Crow Medicine Show and Breaking Benjamin concerts.
10. Thompson-Boling Arena
Opened in 1987, Thompson-Boling Arena has many different uses located on UT’s campus right off the river. It is the home of the Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball and the Tennessee Lady Vols. The basketball court is named “The Summitt” after the legendary basketball coach Pat Summitt.
