Joshua Tree is a beautiful desert oasis located in Southern California near Palm Springs, CA. My experience here was amazing as I got the chance to visit Joshua Tree National Park. Even if you are used to the desert ecosystem this place is still unique as the desert trees in this town look like something out of a Dr. Suess book! There are a lot of fun activities and places to see in the National Park and around this small town.
Hiking and Rock climbing inside the National Park

These activities are amongst the most popular out of the four listed in this article. There are tons of very cool rock formations that are easily accessible to climb. I must add that you get the best view of the mountains and the sunset when on top of these rocks! Rock climbing was my favorite because I was best able to get a great overview lookout of the entire park! Arch Rock is the best place to see Joshua Trees in my opinion. There are trails along Arch rock with cool desert plants such as cactus and aloe vera.
Meditation in Joshua Tree
Joshua Tree is known to have spiritual places where you can cleanse your mind and soul from the turbulent times. There is even a Joshua Tree Retreat Center, or The Institute of Mentalphysics, in Joshua Tree. They even have palm readings and places where people can help you connect your mind to the outside world.
Go to the Joshua Tree Saloon
This saloon is over 30 years old and has a very old school feel to it the minute you walk into the bar. There is a stage where live bands can play and it is very old western themed as there is cowboy memorabilia everywhere and even old school looking benches where people can eat. They even have a pool table!
Stargazing
You rarely have to worry about being able to see stars at night in Joshua Tree. I was lucky enough to go stargazing with my girlfriend and it was so romantic to just hear nothing but nature and to look up to a bright spotted sky. There are amazing photo opportunities near Barker Dam where you can even swim in the water underneath the stars. Don't worry it is always swimming season in the desert.
