Sending letters is one of the most old-fashioned, yet best things that you can receive in the mail. It gives such a sentimental value and is something that you can cherish always. Send a card with chocolate or flowers to those that mean something to you and show how much of an impact they have on your life. You'll be sure to make someone smile.

Buying someone Starbucks in line in front of you at the coffee shop, or paying it forward in any way can put you in a happier and more positive mood this Valentine's Day. Volunteering at a food pantry, nursing home, or animal shelter today can really impact how you view the world and put you in a better mood, today is the perfect day to do that.

6. Stay off social media

Although social media can have plenty of benefits, it does not provide any on Valentine's Day. Seeing people post pictures with their boyfriends or girlfriends can have you wishing you were in a relationship. Avoid Instagram, Facebook, and snapchat today and focus on the people that make you happy today.

7. Spend time with family and friends

Hanging out with a group of friends or having dinner with your parents can be one of the most enjoyable things to do on Valentine's Day. The holiday doesn't always have to be about spending time with a significant other, but it can be about spending time with those that you love and making memories to last a lifetime.

8. Watch a movie marathon

Although you may be surrounded by friends in relationships, always remember that you matter. Don't let societies standards of being in love and having someone to spend Valentine's Day with ruin your day. Make today about realizing what you love about yourself!

Valentine's Day does not have to be a negative holiday if you are not in a relationship. Spend the day with loved ones and you will know how loved you truly are.
