Summer 2017 is quickly approaching and even though most of us college students will be either on a budget, still taking summer courses or working more than full time. Everyone deserves to have some fun during summer (I mean it's called break for a reason right?) Here are some simple spectacular things that you can do that won't break your bank account!

1. Going to the Sand Dunes

Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore has always been one of the most beautiful spots in Michigan. Taking the day to explore beaches, forests and one of Michigan’s greatest lakes!

2. Detroit Riverfront

Listening to live jazz music, hanging out with friends will being in the heart of Michigan.

3. Visiting Mackinac Island

You won’t have to worry about spending money on gas while touring, just rent a bike or take a horse drawn carriage ride! Visiting many historic sites, activities, water sports and golf! Not only is Mackinac a fun place to tour but its beautiful!

4. Going to concerts at DTE Energy Theater

Lawn tickets are usually about $30 which is relatively cheap for a concert!

5. Top of The Park Ann Arbor

Food vendors, live music, beer tents and movies. While experiencing the night life of Ann Arbor, what more could you ask for?

6. Ann Arbor Art Festival

Even though some of this art work might not be in your price range, grab some friends, eat good food and tour some of the local artists of Ann Arbor!

7. Tigers Games at Comerica Park

Watching your Detroit Tigers play on a summer day couldn’t get any better.

8. Ever been to a drive in movie? Visit Capri Drive-In

In Coldwater, Michigan this drive in was rated one of the Top 10 Drive-In Movie theaters in the country.

9. Visiting Farmers Markets

Locally or across the state, summer time is all about fresh grown locally foods!

Visit some great resturants like the Bavarian Inn, celebrate Christmas in the summertime by going to Bronner’s!

11. Take a day and go see all kinds of animals at the Zoo

Rather you’re with friends, family or your significant other. Visiting the zoo isn’t only for little kids! Across Michigan, there is the John Ball Zoo, Binder Park Zoo, Potter Park Zoo and the Detroit Zoo!

12. Go to Traverse City

What’s better than exploring Traverse City? Go on a wine tour, hike around, visit art galleries, shop and even treat yourself to a spa treatment up here!

13. Take a weekend and explore Michigan’s 115 Historic Lighthouses

Exploring the classic beauty of Michigan can be easy. Plus, they’re all around our great lakes so you can make a trip out of it and visit a few!

The perfect size for families and friends. Plus they have a huge water park that is connected!


Michigan has all sorts of fun things to explore and do during the summer. Especially activities that wont break your bank and you can enjoy with the people that you love. Now actually enjoy your summer BREAK while you can before school starts up again in fall!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
