Summer is almost over, and I am freaking out! I don't have much time left to swim all day in the pool, read all of the good books (not school books) that I want, go on road trips, go to the water park, or watch Netflix ALL day. It will be back to hitting the books (hard) before we know it. No more late nights. No more sleeping in till noon. No more lounging around. I am holding back tears just thinking about school starting back. Here is what we can do to make the most of our summer break that is left. Make the rest of your days of freedom count!
1. Go to a drive-in movie theater.
I have been wanting to go to the drive-in movie theater all summer! It is so fun to be able to hang out with friends and family outside, while watching a movie. We usually get there early to get good spots, and we like to throw frisbee until the movie starts. We also eat all of the popcorn that we want.
2. Go to a water park.
If you haven't gone to one already, then you need to go now! The water parks close soon after summer is over, and you do not want to miss out on the fun that a water park brings! It is so nice to just hop on a slide to cool off. Even when it is the hottest day ever, you do not feel hot because you are constantly getting drenched while going down slides and wading through the lazy river.
3. Read a book you have been wanting to read all summer.
Reading is one of my favorite things to do, and I have definitely read my share of books over the summer. I call it "fun reading" because during school, I still have to read, but the reading is for school (and that is not fun at all). So go buy a book that you have been dying to read, and feast your eyes on the awesome pages of a book.
4. Have a game night with the family.
Game nights are awesome, and during school, I never have time for this much fun. Game nights are always full of laughter and fun. I have all kinds of family games to play when my family wants to have one. Those nights are unforgettable.
5. Binge watch one more TV show series on Netflix.
A whole entire series. You've got time! Do it before you don't even have time to use the bathroom. Make sure you finish the series before school starts so that you aren't tempted to keep watching after school begins. I made the mistake of restarting "Grey's Anatomy" before last semester, and I was tempted to keep watching it during school. The temptation was too much, and I made time for one episode every day when I came home. Don't make that mistake!
6. Go to your favorite restaurant.
There isn't much time to go out to eat during school, so get dressed up and go out to your favorite place to eat! Soak up every second of it!
7. Start a routine so that when you go back to school, you will be able to continue the routine.
Start an early morning or after school routine now before all desire to be healthy or diligent goes out the window. When school starts, it's all about school. Exercise goes out the window. But if you start a routine now, you could continue when school starts. I plan on starting an early morning routine consisting of exercise, breakfast, and time spent with God.
8. Spend quality time with your family.
Make sure to not take for granted being so close to your parents and having time to spend with them. Make sure they know they are loved!
