11 Thoughts You Have While Packing For School

Unfortunately, August has snuck up on all us college kids this year and it's time to pack for school. As you are carefully organizing (or randomly throwing) your stuff in boxes, you may find yourself thinking about the following.

1. Do I really need this shirt?

The answer's usually no, considering you brought hundreds exactly like it, but you always bring it anyways. Just in case the others spontaneously combust.

2. I’m not gonna bring any folders. Who needs folders?

Yet when it comes to school supplies, they never find their way in your bag. This may be because class is the last thing you want to think about.

3. My roommate’s gonna love this.

You always end up bringing more things for her than for yourself; clothes that look better on her, snacks that she likes. That is true friendship.

4. How am I gonna fit all this in my drawers?

You can't even fit all your clothes in your drawers at home. How are they going to fit in your dorm room which is 50 percent smaller?

5. I’m gonna need more boxes.

Not even half done and you run out of boxes to pack stuff in. It's going to be a long year.

6. What’s our room theme?

It's always important to coincide room décor with your roommate for a nicely blended, all-around cute room. A bad room theme can set your mood and make or break a school year, so choose accordingly.

7. I can't do this anymore. I’m staying home.

This is probably like the fifth time you have quit packing. Just try again tomorrow...or in a few hours.

8. Can I bring my cat?

How are you possibly going to make it six months without seeing your favorite pet? Might as well just toss them in your suitcase. Who cares if you get caught by res life?

9. I'm just gonna bring my whole mattress.

It can't be that hard right? Plus imagining sleeping on those crusty, old mattresses is already giving you back pain, so it will be worth it.

10. Do I really have to go BACK to Target?

Of course you forgot something so you have to go back for your hundredth trip to Target for a toothbrush and accidentally pass by the workout clothes section. Three hours later you're walking out of the store with a full cart and and empty bank account. Are you surprised? No.

11. I cant wait to see my squad!

This is usually running through your head every hour on the hour during the entire month of August because going back to school is only exciting because you get to see your friends again.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
