I find money to be an important asset in my life because I use it to fulfill my basic necessities such as shelter, food and water, education, and transportation. However, there are always plenty of wants that everyone, including myself, are constantly thinking about, even though we are consciously aware that they are typically unnecessary. It is apparent that the majority of things cost money nowadays in which you may wonder why people say, "money does not buy happiness." Although money is used to afford trips and activities that may make you feel good, finding happiness is really quite simpler than that.

Happiness does not involve the dependency on something as materialistic as money, yet it comes from a feeling within of satisfaction and tranquility. As a matter of fact, saving your money is a good start to being truly happy. These are five concepts things that I view as more important than money, and they are huge factors in my life that I view as priceless.

My family and friends will always be the most important to me because they are my primary source of happiness. I am so lucky to have a large and loving family, as well as, some close friends that are like family to me. They are the ones that help to create valuable experiences and memories in my life because they are the people that care about me most.

The next priceless factor is nature, the beautiful environment that offers me oxygen and fresh air to live in. I am so fortunate to experience two completely different climates and terrains throughout the year. Being from the east coast, I get to see the luscious Appalachian Mountains; however, going to school on the west coast allows me to view the beautiful Rocky Mountains as well. I am so thankful for the beautiful places that I have seen and have yet to see around the world. It does often cost money to travel, but it is the authentic environment and culture that is more influential to me than the luxurious, vacation-type trip.

Another factor I view as more important than money is fresh water, for drinking, swimming, bathing, etc. It is not only a key factor for survival, but also allows me to have good hygiene and enjoyment in one of the world's natural resources.

Lastly, I would not be the person I am today without the influence of music. It is simply amazing how this source of entertainment can change one's mood, create memories, and promote self-expression all over the world. Without music, I think that the world would be a different place.

I recommend making a list like this so when you are feeling down, you can look at it and realize that you have it pretty good. In my opinion, having gratitude for what you have in life is the best way to ensure your inner happiness. One of my favorite quotes that I have hanging in my room is, "when you love what you have, you have everything you need."

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
