You've reached that point. You're about to graduate. How scary is it that you've put four (or maybe more) years of your life into studying and work, and for what, a piece of paper? The thing that's weird is your life is about to change, and hopefully, it will change for the better. There are some things to remember as your college years are coming to an end. Things are going to be okay, so don't freak out just yet.
1. You will see your friends again.
It’s scary right? Some of your friends live hours away, and you think you’ll never see them again. Think of it this way, you thought you’d never see your high school friends, but you always end up running into them in your hometown, or making big plans to all meet up every time you’re been home on break. You will somehow make time with your (hopefully) new job to see all your college BFFs and make irresponsible decisions like you did every weekend throughout college.
2. You will find a job.
How bummed are you that you still haven’t gotten a job offer? The disappointment comes close to the realization you will have to call up your manager at Friendly’s and say you will be returning for another summer! Take a deep breath and relax. You will eventually find a job that has something to do with your major. So, for the time being, have fun having weekdays off and be irresponsible for a little while longer.
3. Moving home isn’t the worst thing in the world.
Everyone gets it. You don’t want to move back home with your parents, but who does? The upside, no more grocery shopping for yourself, and your mom will probably do your laundry again. The best part, home cooked meals! No more soup and ramen for dinner because you were too lazy or too broke to buy yourself some actual food.
4. You will still have fun on the weekends.
I don’t understand why, but there's this stupid rumor that goes around that your life after college becomes some boring suckfest. Why does all your fun have to end because you’re an “adult”? Just because you’re graduating and getting a big girl/boy job doesn’t mean you can’t still go out on the weekends and have a good time. Now, I wouldn’t suggest ripping shots and shotgunning beers like you did when you finally learned how to drink sophomore year, but no one said you can’t get a little drunk and have fun.
5. Your best years are ahead of you.
Everyone always says your college days are the best days of your life, but it’s not “all downhill from here”. Think of all the amazing things that are ahead of you in your life. Landing an amazing job, getting married, having kids and eventually sending those kids off to college. Don’t forget your college days. Always hold them close to you, but don’t forget that there are so many incredible things coming your way post-college. Say goodbye to your beer coozie and hello to your future. It’s waiting.
