World of Singles

You're the girl that has and will probably always try to please everyone in your life.

You're the girl that would rather spend every minute with her family than at a party.

You're the girl that spends hours in a bookstore rather than in a shoe store.

You're the girl that can't do makeup to save your life.

You're the girl that prefers to be around your guy friends than almost anyone else.

You're the girl that rarely gets asked to do anything, but if you were asked, you probably wouldn't go anyways because you'd feel uncomfortable.

You're the girl whose mom is your best friend.

You're the girl that feels things quickly and deeply; there is no gray area for you.

You're the girl who feels like you have to do everything by yourself: not that no one is there for you, but because you're hard headed and feel like you're burdening someone if you ask for help.

You're the girl that doesn't like to ask questions in class.

You're the girl who watches horror movies by yourself because you don't want anyone to know that you actually find them hilarious. I mean, c'mon, they're so overdone!

You're the girl who used to be obsessed with Twilight and Justin Bieber.

You're the girl that cried when you got your first B on your midquarter report card in the fourth grade.

You're the girl who wears her hair in a bun almost everyday because you can't do anything with it, but envy those who can.

You're the girl who needs to realize a couple of things.

First of all, you are good enough. God doesn't make mistakes and you are exactly who He intended for you to be. Anyone who doesn't realize that shouldn't be given the time of day. Just remember that this too shall pass: when you're feeling overwhelmed or whatever else you feel, remember that you are good enough. You just have to believe that you're good enough for yourself and then you'll realize that you're good enough for everyone else.

Second, it's okay to need people to lean on. That is human nature and everyone needs someone. You are incredibly blessed to have two amazing parents and an amazing brother, not to mention grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who are always there. Utilize them. Complain to them. Cry to them. Ask them for help. That's what they're there for!

Third, you are smart. Everyone faces challenges with school and it's about time that you experience those challenges because life only gets harder as you grow older. Understand that you're going to get through these classes and that every class is getting you closer and closer to your goals. Thoughts of quitting are not acceptable because you're more than capable to make something of yourself. Think about why you started. Think about your dreams and focus on them.

Fourth, you are strong. You don't quite understand how strong you are. You and your family have been through numerous things and, with them by your side, you've all gotten past every curveball that life has thrown at you. Actually, you've knocked those curveballs out of the dang park! And you will continue to do so until the end of time because your family is forever. God is forever. He doesn't dish out more than you can handle. Trust in Him and believe that He is always there with you. With Him, you can do ANYTHING.

Fifth, be patient. You know exactly what I'm talking about here, don't you? Things will happen exactly when they're supposed to happen. Just because you want it to happen now, doesn't mean that's is God's plan. Remember that He has every little moment of your life planned out before you even existed on this planet. Trust Him and be patient.

You are me. I am you. I know that you're incredibly stubborn. Mom has told you these things more times than you can count but somehow hearing them come from yourself makes them more true. Because she's your mom and she has to believe these things, right? The same with Brother and Dad. This is to remind yourself of who you are. You are amazing in your own uniquely weird way. You are exactly who you are meant to be: messy bun and all.

Yourself

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
