1. Everything that you thought was so important back then will soon hold absolutely NO meaning to your life now.
That test you failed, all the rumors that went around about you, or where you stood on the high school popularity spectrum will soon mean nothing to you and you will begin to realize just how much of your stress during high school was entirely pointless.
2. High School was definitely NOT the best years of your life.
If you're lucky, you will have a better experience out of high school than most. However, the majority of college graduate students today will roll their eyes at you if you ask how high school went for them. During high school, most people don't know who they are or what they want to do with their life, and in order to figure out those important directions, many are immature and take out all their anger and stress on everyone around them. In college, everyone matures almost instantly when given adult responsibilities. Please believe me when I say that maturity makes all the difference in the world and life does get so much better after high school!
3. The pain, drama and utter nonsense has vastly shaped your character.
The average high school graduate has been called almost every insult in the book, dealt with many confrontations and conflicts, and has at one point felt the true meaning of a broken heart. Eventually, you have just been hurt so many times and in so many different ways that you put up an emotional shield. Fortunately, nothing really hurts you nearly as much anymore like it did back in high school!
4. As improved as college is, there will always be some aspects of high school you will always miss.
You will begin to miss all your friends being just a short drive away, or eating dinner with your family each night, homecoming games, prom, or even your parents and animals that were always there for you when you were sick or had a bad day. Overall, you will begin to miss what it was like being considered a kid and not having so many responsibilities!
5. You will actually keep in touch with very few friends with high school.
Staying in touch with your friends after high school is a difficult task that requires re-occurring phone conversations, face time, and social media. With the rigor of your courses and overall busy schedule, it's hard to find the time to stay in touch with your friends you used to see almost everyday!
6. You will focus on the importance of quality friends rather than quantity.
In high school, the focus was primarily on how many friends you had, which determined your social status. As for the real world, you will begin to see how pointless that was and will begin to be more content with just a few friends that you share a deep and meaningful connection with.
